About the Name – Bà
bà (pronounced: bah) means "wine calabash" in Ghomala, a language spoken in the Haut-Plateaux department of Cameroon’s West Region.
The name is meaningful because the form speaks first. This teapot is shaped like a calabash — a traditional object deeply rooted in Bamileke culture, historically used for storing and serving drinks during gatherings and ceremonies. The object and the word align naturally, without reinterpretation.
Bà is a way of honoring continuity. It reflects how traditional forms can be reimagined in contemporary objects without losing their essence. It carries forward a familiar silhouette into a modern context, turning everyday tea service into a subtle act of cultural remembrance.
